City of Sunnyvale Casper NOMS System Goes Live
Casper Airport Solutions Inc. (CAS) has just completed the installation of The City of Sunnyvale's state-of-the-art Casper Noise and Operations Monitoring System. The system includes four new permanent solar-powered noise monitors, an internal flight track/noise analysis tool, public flight tracker, and the Noise Lab community engagement portal.
The four permanent noise monitoring terminals (NMTs) are deployed across the City to capture noise levels from aircraft operations in conjunction with San Jose, Reid Hillview, Moffett Field, San Carlos, Palo Alto, San Francisco, Oakland, and Hayward airports. The near real-time noise data is correlated to flight tracks and made available to residents on the Flight Tracker and Noise Lab website.
The Noise Lab community portal allows residents to run reports and view both near real-time and historical statistics on aircraft noise and flight activity over the City of Sunnyvale. The website also includes a wealth of educational 101 content to help residents better understand air traffic management complexities in the San Francisco Bay Area and aviation noise specific metrics and terminology.
The new NOMS system's primary goal is to provide the City with quantifiable data related to aircraft noise impacts, which can be viewed by residents and used to help inform future decision-making by the FAA when it comes to proposed flight path changes that affect the City of Sunnyvale.
Casper is proud to partner with the City in this endeavor, and we look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship.
